Populis takes over mokono for 8.2 million Euro

Frankfurt, September 22nd, 2011 - Populis, one of the leading digital media companies in Europe, has bought mokono, the largest German blog operator. For a total of €8.2 million, mokono becomes a 100%-subsidiary of the online media group.

With the acquisition Populis' reach increases by 14 million unique monthly users. This taps into a new target group of creative users: from now on, about 700,000 mokono blogs and authors will be part of the Populis network which includes the influential blog communities blog.de and blog.co.uk.

Vasco Sommer-Nunes and Florian Wilken, founder and managing director of mokono respectively, will continue to manage Populis' new subsidiary from Berlin.
